Over the weekend, civil rights leader Bob Moses died at the age of 86. Moses was instrumental in registering voters in Mississippi in the 1960s as a leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and was a chief coordinator for Freedom Summer in 1964 which brought hundreds of volunteers to the state. He then went out to found the Algebra Project, an organization working to improve math literacy for all students, especially those in poor communities.
Lisa Cook, professor of economics and international relations at Michigan State University, joined The Takeaway to discuss the life and legacy of Moses.
