30 Years After PBS' Landmark Documentary, "Eyes on the Prize," Where Are We Now?

Director, producer and Professor and North Gate Chair in Journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism Jon Else joins us to discuss his new book, True South: Henry Hampton and "Eyes on the Prize," the Landmark Television Series That Reframed the Civil Rights Movement. His book commemorates the 30th anniversary of the airing of the landmark PBS television documentary, “Eyes on the Prize.” Else, who was the series producer and cinematographer, focuses on the tumultuous 18 months in 1985 and 1986, during which he, along with Hampton and other veterans of the Civil Rights movement, created the series.

There will be a screening of "Eyes on the Prize" (episodes 1 & 2) with conversations and a roundtable, in between the two screenings, at the Brooklyn Museum at 200 Eastern Parkway on Saturday, February 25th from 11:00am-6:00pm. The event is free and open to the public if you mention you're there for the screening, otherwise tickets will cost $16. For more information, click here.
